Co-Curricular Record Instructions for Psychology Students

If you have accumulated 15 hours of volunteer work over the course of the year, you are eligible to add a position to your Co-Curricular Record. The following positions are available for psychology students:

  • Psychology Teaching Assistant
  • Psychology Research Assistant
  • Psychology Society President
  • Psychology Society Vice President
  • Psychology Society Treasurer
  • Psychology Society Communications Officer
  • Psychology Society Secretary
  • Psychology Society Student Liaison

If you are interested in adding one of these positions to your Co-Curricular Record, these are the steps that you must follow:

  1. Login to the My Career website. The link can be located with other login links (e.g. COMPASS, Moodle). Login as a student and use your CBU email and password.
  2. Click the Co-Curricular Record tab on the left-hand side of the dashboard.
  3. Search for the appropriate position. This can be done in two ways:
    • Select the “Actions you can take” button, and then click “Add a position to My Record”. You can then search for the position in the search bar. Ensure that you are selecting the appropriate academic year for the position when applying.
    • You can also click the Experiential Catalogue tab on the left-hand side for the full list of positions you can add to your Co-Curricular Record. You can scroll through all of the positions, or filter through them by searching for “Psychology”. Ensure that you are selecting the appropriate academic year for the position when applying.
  4. After selecting the appropriate position and clicking “Add Position To My Co-Curricular Record”, you will be given a list of achievements. These achievements are intended to symbolize the experience that you gained from this position. You can select up to nine (9) achievements for your Co-Curricular Record. Every student will likely select different achievements; there is no right or wrong answer. When finished, click the Save button.
  5. You will need to have your hours officially recorded for the Psychology Department. This can be done at any moment during your time with the position (e.g. you can seek credit for your hours as you earn them, or you can keep your own records and have all 15 hours documented when you reach that point), but you will need your hours recorded before proceeding. Some positions may also require an email from your supervisor to the validator, confirming that you meet the requirements.
    • Psychology Ambassadors: Hours are periodically recorded by the Psychology Society. Contact an executive in the Psychology Society if you would like to know how many hours you have accumulated and/or if you would like to request that hours be recorded for your volunteer work.
    • Psychology Teaching Assistants: Hours are documented on payroll timesheets. The validator will ensure that you have earned the appropriate number of hours. The validator will also require an email from your supervising professor confirming that you have earned the appropriate number of hours.

Once your hours are recorded, contact or visit the validator to request that you be validated for your chosen position. The validation process involves ensuring that you have earned the required 15 hours, and that you have successfully filled out the application on the My Career website. If there are no issues, you will have officially earned credit for the position and it will be visible on your Co-Curricular Record.
