Biography

Heather Schmidt is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Cape Breton University. She completed her Honours B.A. in psychology at the University of Victoria (Victoria, B.C.) and then her M.A. & Ph.D. in Social/Personality Psychology at York University (Toronto, ON) in 2009. From 2007 to 2009 she was employed as a researcher at a community-based research institute (NORDIK) at Algoma University in Northern Ontario, where she specialized in collaborative projects with the 7 local Anishinaabek First Nations. She also taught courses at Algoma University such as Qualitative Methods, Intro Statistics, Psychology of Social Issues & Personality Psychology. She joined the faculty at Cape Breton University in July 2009.
